Two would be good but, then there was this really good deal, and now it's three tiny, little Chihuahuas who really don't eat much. Then, there was this one who really needed an experienced Chihuahua home, and they asked me if I would take him. Before you could know it; there were a little over a half dozen itty-bitty, beautiful, compassionate, all-sensing, inquisitive little heart-breakers with all eyes upon me, everywhere I went. I like to call them, "My Personal Admiration Society." Whether they are gallivanting up and down my hallways or lying on their backs with their toes twitching on the couch, Chihuahuas are deeply woven into every aspect of my life, and I am addicted."

Welcome to Underfoot Kennels. This is my home as well as where I raise my dogs. As you browse through my pages, I hope you will feel comfortable you are getting to know my dogs.      I have a small "hobby" breeding program where all my dogs live in my house with my human family… Underfoot! I have owned and raised Chihuahuas since 1980. Of course, many things have been learned over the years but, I never miss an opportunity to learn something new about my chosen breed whenever I can. All of my Chihuahuas are registered with the American Kennel Club (AKC) and I have no use for any other so-called registry clubs or affiliations. We do attend our local Chihuahua Meet-Ups as often as possible and are looking forward to the day when I actually have the time to show my beautiful dogs.
 
     Our Chihuahuas chosen for my breeding program are correct to AKC standards and are selected for their desirable traits including: Conformation, Temperament, Size, and of course, overall good looks! All of my dogs are vaccinated early in the spring (Feb - March) before the annual surge of PARVO hits! All of my adult dogs are vaccinated for rabies but, I do not vaccinate Chihuahua puppies for rabies unless it is requested by the purchaser or is required by law for a health certificate and for shipping purposes. All other wormings and vaccinations are kept current and age appropriate as designated by local health needs and per my veterinarian. I do include the controversial "Lepto" vaccine because I do not know what part of the country each puppy will end up calling home and I want them to be best prepared for anything this great big world might throw at them.
 
     All of my puppies are delivered by me, unless a c-section is necessary. I clip their dew claws at birth and potty training begins between 3 and 4 weeks of age with reasonably consistent results expected at about 15 weeks for girls and 17 weeks for boys. I administer a Neo-Par vaccine at 4 weeks (optional), 1st worming at 6 weeks, 1st 5-way vaccine at 7 weeks, 2nd worming at 10 weeks, 2nd 5-way vaccine at 11 weeks, 3rd worming at 14 weeks, and 3rd 5-way vaccine at 15 weeks. If a puppy needs to be shipped, I will hold off on the up-coming vaccination so they can be vaccinated by my veterinarian for the health certificate needed for shipping purposes. I will not sell or ship a puppy until it meets this minimum criteria: 1) Completely weaned from Momma. 2) Eating dry food without any problems. 3) Is able to spend 24 hours in a crate with only toys, food, water, and a towel, in a 70 degree house and can maintain a healthy body temperature.
 
     All my dogs are trained to use potty pads and have access to the outside Chihuahua proof fenced yard via a very small doggie door. Usually, my puppies are ready to go to their new homes between 10 and 20 weeks of age. In my opinion, Chihuahua puppies are way too fragile for a new environment before this age. Each puppy is an individual though, and I might consider a hand delivery or personal pick up to a home which is educated about the Chihuahua breed and its' needs earlier if the puppy meets the above mentioned criteria and at my discretion.
 
     I only raise AKC Registered Chihuahuas (isn't that enough for anybody!?!) but, we also have 1 spayed Golden Retriever, 2 spayed cats, 1 Beta fish, and 4 horses. I love all my pets! I do require 2 personal references and 1 veterinary reference for every puppy sold over the internet. I do offer payment plans to approved homes with the puppy being paid off before you take possession. I require a $300 non-refundable (but can be transferred under certain circumstances) deposit to hold a puppy. I also accept PayPal for an additional 4.25% if you want to "Charge-It!"
 
     Here are some approximate shipping options which would need to be confirmed on an individual bases but, will give you an idea of what to expect: You come to my house and pick up = FREE!!! You fly to SeaTac Airport in Seattle Washington for pick up = $100. I drive to a location within 50 miles of my house = $100. I fly to the U.S. International airport closest to you and you meet me there for pick up = $600.
